Once in a while I like to experiment. Here we have a most unusual if not unsettling rendition of my front porch...like something a drunk might see just before passing out. I get a little dizzy the more I look at it.
Worship at a local Christian church in West Jordan Utah. Great passion and love for Jesus.
And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other
Simplicity. One pale green light - a single detail. No distractions. I'm drawn to this image. Taken February 25th 2015 on the BYU campus in Provo, UT.
Our Wasatch Mountains in Utah County - so massive and distant, yet here it feels as though these slopes could be touched with a hand and the clouds brushed aside to reveal the peaks
My penchant for darkness continues - here we have the Lehi Round-Up Rodeo Grounds well after sundown. I was drawn the the stark geometric patterns made possible only by streetlight.
Stark man-made lines unwittingly lift the gaze into a timeless realm above.
1/18/15 - New construction off SR73 in Saratoga Springs
12/23/14 - Lehi, UT
100 West Street - about 10 paces off Main street. Stark, gritty, grainy... not the Lehi you'll ever see in a tourist brochure. But definitely worth capturing. So much here...two of everything to hold the eye. Two poles, two lights, two buildings, two barred windows. Duality. Silhouette elements. Texture in the brick wall. Deep shadows, pure light, gradient light. Feels desolate. Feels old. Feels uneasy with fears of what, or who, might be concealed in the darkness...the unseen threat for whom those bars were placed.
1/10/15 - Salt Lake Central Station. Dropped Pam and Jun off at a play in Magna then headed to SLC with Jaeden for this night shoot. Great atmosphere with the rain and fog.
Civilization overtakes the hillside north of SR92 in Utah County
Outlets at Traverse Mountain, but with a twist.
First Whisky. Next Patty in a box. Both these Japanese bobtails were shot though glass to add some reflected color and drama.
12/23/14 - Lehi, UT...
The dark and mysterious Door 34
SE corner of the Thanksgiving Point Home2Suites Hotel - Lehi, Utah. Something 2001 Space Odyssey about this angled monolith. A single window glows dimly suggesting some kind of pale green alien activity in an otherwise lifeless shell.
My son moves. He goes. The first image feels like bright flowing liquid chaos. The second gives the sense that things are often centered on him as he moves through the house. He cannot be ignored.
My daughter escaping up to her room tonight. So not your typical portrait but yet a scene so completely typical in our house. This one I colored and processed to feel like an instant camera memory. There's so much I love about this. The little shadow of the hair on the wall, the singular in-focus element to the left on an otherwise blank white wall, the Christmas lights on the rail and bright wall on the right, but most interesting is the faceless young mystery moving up the stairs.
Now I find myself drawn to deep shadows with just a splash or light and color. I love the metaphor, spiritually.
Uploaded more shots today for your viewing pleasure.
This is my first post, on my first blog, ever. I thought it was about time. I have a few pics up on this site for testing. Still deciding what to do with this photo thing. Guess we'll see where it takes me.
